The North East of Tasmania has a number of tremendous amount of still water and river fishing that is sometimes overlooked by locals and tourists alike. Although to many to mention we can suggest that in particular during the early months of our season this area continues to not disappoint.
Blackman's Lagoon and Little Waterhouse Lake are great for shore-based fly-fishing. It is a funny feeling fishing for trout and hearing the waves of the ocean crashing in the distance. Unfortunately Blackman's Lagoon doe's not hold the amount of trophy trout as it once did, however we have taken a number of good quality rainbows over recent seasons. Little Waterhouse Lake provides large trout that are difficult to catch but great reward comes from the fight of these incredibly strong fish. The Great Forester River is a renowned water for resident trout and has sea running trout chasing the white bait runs in spring time. Curries River Dam is another put-and-take fishery close to Launceston with fly-fishing from a boat recommended.
