Another area of Tasmania with excellent still waters is located on the rugged West Coast. We are one of very few guiding services to offer tours in this beautiful area. Peter lived and worked on the West Coast for many years and has built up an excellent amount of local knowledge.
For tourists staying at Cradle Mountain and looking for a days fishing the West Coast tours are much sought after. Only minutes from Cradle Mountain is the hard to find Lake Lea. This tremendous water can be fished in virtually all conditions; be it searching for tails in the flooded marshlands, wading and blind casting over 90% of the lake, fishing the holes with sinking lines or polaroiding in the shallows.
Brook trout still waters are easily accessible on the West Coast and are catered for.
Waters such as Clarence lagoon, Lake's Selina and Lake Plimsoll can be fished given
the right conditions. The brilliant Lake St Clair is another of
our favourite waters. Apart from fishing the main lake the lagoon and basin provide
all condition fishing and are highly recommended. The scenery in the upper reachers
of the lake is world class. There are a few day walk options in the St. Clair area
we highly recommend. Lakes Forgotten and Shadow are about 1.5 hours steady walk
and unlike most West Coast waters, it can be polaroided with great effect due
to the crystal clear water. As with Lake St. Clair rainbows and browns are both residents.
